  • For brands interested in entering the children's grooming market, finding a suitable OEM factory is a crucial step in product implementation. Children's shampoo has higher requirements for formula safety, production environment, and testing standards, and the brand needs to establish a systematic inspection and collaboration method.

1、 Four dimensions for evaluating contract factories

Production Qualification and On site Management

The brand should first verify whether the factory holds a cosmetics production license and confirm that its license scope includes the categories of "children's cosmetics" or "infant care". During on-site inspections, attention can be paid to the air purification level of the production workshop, the storage situation of raw materials in different zones, and the sealing degree of the filling line. A well managed factory has clear standards for floor cleaning, personnel attire, and material placement.

    Formula development capability

Understand whether the factory is equipped with a formula laboratory and whether the R&D personnel have experience in developing children's products. The factory can be requested to provide past cases of children's shampoo developed for other brands, to understand the types of surfactants and anti-corrosion systems used. Pay attention to the raw material procurement records and confirm that the raw material suppliers have the corresponding qualifications.

Testing system and sample retention system

Children's shampoo needs to undergo stricter microbiological, heavy metal, and pH testing. Inquire whether the factory conducts internal testing for each batch and whether a third-party organization is commissioned to conduct regular spot checks. Check the sample retention room to confirm that the factory has complete retention samples for each batch of products, and whether the retention time has reached one year after the product shelf life.

    Past cooperation records

Understand the types of brands, product categories, and order sizes served by the factory without involving trade secrets. You can contact one or two of the brand owners to learn about the factory's on-time delivery rate, problem response speed, cooperation, and other information.

2、 Standard process for outsourcing cooperation

    Requirement communication and scheme confirmation

The brand provides product concepts, including capacity specifications, fragrance preferences, packaging forms, and expected cost ranges. The factory provides 1-2 basic solutions based on its own formula system and explains the directions that can be adjusted.

    Sample making and trial use

The factory produces samples according to communication requirements, usually requiring 2-3 rounds of adjustment. After receiving the samples, the brand can organize internal trials or invite target user groups to participate and experience them. After each round of sampling, both parties need to confirm in writing the details of formula adjustments.

    Contract signing and production preparation

The contract should specify the ownership of the formula, raw material specifications, packaging material standards, acceptance methods, delivery period, and payment method. Pay special attention to the agreed product quality standards, which shall be based on the samples sealed by both parties, and specify the handling methods in case of quality issues.

    Trial production and mass production

Before the official mass production, a small-scale trial production can be arranged to inspect the actual operation of the production line. After the trial production products pass the full inspection, mass production can be started. During the production process, the brand can send personnel to follow up at the factory or request the factory to provide on-site photos and inspection records of key links.

    Acceptance and Delivery

After the product arrives, the brand shall conduct acceptance inspection according to the sampling method stipulated in the contract. Retain testing reports and samples for each batch for easy traceability in the future.

Choosing a suitable OEM factory is like finding a partner, and the brand needs to invest time in on-site visits and comparisons from multiple sources. Before placing an official order, starting with small batch orders and gradually expanding the scale after smooth cooperation is a more reliable way.
